Here are the words found in each section of the lesson.

Introduction: Hey guys! I’m so excited you could come today! How are you doing? I hope your week went well.
Are you ready to discover what today’s mystery is? Let’s find out how God used frogs, water, darkness and much, much more to show everyone how powerful He is.

I’m going to need lots of help in solving this mystery, so I hope you are all up to the challenge.

Let’s dive in and see what we can find in God’s word!


Bible Story: There were some people called the Israelites and God loved them very much. He had a special plan for these people, but they were in trouble. They were living in a land that wasn’t their own. The place they were was called Egypt and the people who lived there didn’t like them very much. The Egyptians were afraid that the Israelites would take over some day, because there were so many of them. So the Egyptians decided to make the Israelites their slaves. They forced them to work hard and didn’t treat them very well.
Well God heard His people crying out for help so He decided to do something about it. He chose a man named Moses to help Him get His people out of the mess they were in.
Moses needed to convince the leader of the Egyptians who was called Pharaoh to let God’s people go, but Pharaoh really liked having the Israelites there to work for him.
Moses knew this would be a hard job, but he was depending on God to help. So he went and found Pharaoh by the river. And Moses said to Pharaoh, “Let my people go!” (Can you guys shout that too?)
But Pharaoh said, (Have person acting like pharaoh say, “No Way!”) So Moses took a cup and dipped it in the water and then gave it to pharaoh to drink. (give a cup to pharaoh and have pharaoh take a drink and spit it out) (Have Pharaoh say, “Uck! It’s blood!)
Even after God turned all the water into blood, Pharaoh didn’t budge. He still refused to let the people go. So Moses came back and asked again, (Can you say it too? “Let my people go!”) Pharaoh wouldn’t listen. So God sent lots of frogs. There were so many frogs that you couldn’t see anything else! (Can you pretend to be frogs, come hop over by Pharaoh and croak really loudly!)
The frogs did bother Pharaoh, but he still wouldn’t listen. Moses came back another time and said, (Can you help me? “Let my people go!”) But Pharaoh just folded his arms and shook his head. So God sent so many gnats that nothing could be seen. Everything looked black! (Can you come get a black sticker and put it on pharaoh?)
But all those gnats didn’t work either. So God sent flies that flew all over everything. (Can you make your loudest buzzing noise and fly around pharaoh?)
Pharaoh still didn’t give up. He refused to let go of God’s people. So Moses came back again and said “Let my people go!” Pharaoh just shook his head. So, do you know what God did next? He made all of the animals that the Egyptians owned die. This made the Egyptians very sad. (Can you bring one of your animals to pharaoh? Grab a stuffed animal and take it up to him. Show him how sad you are.)
But Pharaoh still would not let the people go. So God put sores on all of the Egyptians. (Come put some red dots on pharaoh) Pharaoh hurt really bad, but he would change his mind. So Moses said, “Let my people go!” And pharaoh said, “No way!”
Then the sky turned dark and a bad storm came. There was thunder, lightening and lots of hail that was destroying everything in the land. (Can you pat your legs and stomp your feet and blow hard to make a storm?) And Moses said, “Let my people go!” but Pharaoh wouldn’t listen.
Then God sent locusts. These grasshoppers took over the land and ate everything in sight, but pharaoh wouldn’t let the people go.
So God turned out the lights. He covered up the sun and made it dark outside all the time. (Turn off lights) Pharaoh just shook his head. God knew he had to do something big to change Pharaoh’s mind. So the next night all of the oldest sons died and when the Pharaoh woke up, everyone was so sad. (Pharaoh pretend to cry) Finally he agreed to let God’s people go.

Memory Verse: “For He will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.” Psalm 72:12

Memory Verse Game: Balloon pop: Write out each word of the verse on separate pieces of paper and place them each in a balloon. Have the kids take turns popping the balloons with their feet. See how fast they can put the words of the verse in the right order. When they have finished putting the verse together say it together two or three more times.

Eat ‘em up!: Cut up some apples and place on a plate for each child. Pass out the plates of apple slices and add some peanut butter on the side for dipping. Enjoy!

Make it time!: Pass out the outline of a frog made of green foam paper. To make the frog use the template that’s included. Cut up some foam into circles and use Elmer’s glue in small cups with q-tips to apply the decorations the frog. Have markers and a variety of stickers available for the kids to use while decorating their frog.

Game Time!: To play the balloon relay blow up two balloons, one for each team. Divide the kids into two teams and have them form lines at one end of the area. Give the balloon to the first person in each line and have them place the balloon between their knees. The goal of the game is to be the first team at the finish line. Each team member must walk the
balloon down and back using only their knees. If the balloon drops then the person must start over.
